Nick Almquist
Oakland, CA, USA
Nick Almquist is an artist and graphic designer based in Oakland, CA. His work is motivated by an interest in the ways in which media and technologies have historically shaped human communication, and he is currently deploying graphic design as a means to explore the aesthetics, social contexts and histories surrounding given sets of information. Almquist attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore prior to receiving a BA in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010, and he attended the Werkplaats Typografie Summer School at ISIA Urbino in August 2012. In addition to collaborating with Futurefarmers, he currently works at MendeDesign in San Francisco. His personal life is motivated by a perpetual hunt for disused VHS tapes and superior Chinese food.
