Motivation

The Great Park Project provides a platform to imagine a 21st century space for people to interact with the natural enviornment on a piece of land laden with history, politics and the possiblity to be a model for sustainable land use.

This particular piece of land in Orange County provides a space to imagine new meanings of "public park", and the human desire to interface with the natural world that we are part of.

"...for although in a certain sense and for light minded persons, non existant things can be more easily and irresponsibly represented in words than existing things, for the serious and conscientious historian it is just the reverse. Nothing is harder, yet nothing is more necessary than to speak of certain things whose existence is neither demonstratable nor probable. The very fact that serious and conscientious men treat them as existing things brings them a step closer to existence and to the possiblity of being born.
Albert Secundus (From the Glass Bead Game, Herman Hesse)
